The Corporate Health and Safety team has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional who will be responsible for advising, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the plans and programs that mitigate and manage risk associated with the City's operational and capital programs.
- Proven interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to build relationships and work with staff to identify gaps and develop plans to mitigate risks.
- Sound knowledge of Federal and Provincial legislation, Health and Safety Management Systems, and possess a high level of expertise in incident investigations, determining corrective actions and ensuring implementation of those actions.
- You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and are able to deploy tact and diplomacy in difficult situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and solve problems using sound judgement.
- Demonstrated the ability to develop and lead change management strategies, as well as your ability to work effectively in an environment of heavy workload and competing priorities.
- Knowledge and experience of electrical distribution systems would be an asset.
- *Qualifications**
- Successful completion of a diploma in occupational health and safety, emergency management or related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Five (5) years' directly related work experience in administering Health and Safety, Environmental and/or Emergency Management Systems.
- Professional designation in or ability to obtain Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.
- Possess, or ability to obtain the Alberta Municipal Health and Safety Association auditor qualification and/or Health and Safety Management Systems internal auditor qualification through a recognized certifying body.
- An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
