Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Coordinator based out of Edmonton. The successful candidate will be accountable for overseeing and promoting a safe work environment at utility & industrial sites. This role involves implementing health and safety protocols, conducting regular inspections, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and promoting safety awareness among all site personnel.
Position Description & deliverables
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of tools, equipment, PPE, and site conditions.
- Develop and modify existing HSE manual
- Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans.
- Identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate controls are implemented.
- Lead incident and accident investigations and generate detailed reports.
- Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions for all site personnel.
- Liaise with contractors, site supervisors, and engineers to ensure safety is integrated into work planning.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, including permits, MSDS, and safety data logs.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations, electrical safety codes, and other relevant legislation.
- Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
What you bring to the table
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Certification in construction safety (e.g., NEBOSH, NCSO, CRSP, or equivalent).
- Electrical safety knowledge (e.g., CSA Z462, NFPA 70E) is highly preferred.
- Knowledge on OSHA is an asset
- Minimum 2 years of experience in safety management within the electrical or construction industry.
- Familiarity with risk assessment tools and Job Hazard Analysis & Field Level Hazard Assessment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and safety management software.
- First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certification (or regional equivalent).
