Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Coordinator based out of Edmonton. The successful candidate will be accountable for overseeing and promoting a safe work environment at utility & industrial sites. This role involves implementing health and safety protocols, conducting regular inspections, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and promoting safety awareness among all site personnel.

Position Description & deliverables

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of tools, equipment, PPE, and site conditions.
  • Develop and modify existing HSE manual
  • Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate controls are implemented.
  • Lead incident and accident investigations and generate detailed reports.
  • Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions for all site personnel.
  • Liaise with contractors, site supervisors, and engineers to ensure safety is integrated into work planning.
  • Maintain and update safety documentation, including permits, MSDS, and safety data logs.
  • Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations, electrical safety codes, and other relevant legislation.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and drills.

What you bring to the table

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Certification in construction safety (e.g., NEBOSH, NCSO, CRSP, or equivalent).
  • Electrical safety knowledge (e.g., CSA Z462, NFPA 70E) is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge on OSHA is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in safety management within the electrical or construction industry.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment tools and Job Hazard Analysis & Field Level Hazard Assessment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and safety management software.
  • First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certification (or regional equivalent).
