**The Position - Field Safety Coordinator - Fort McMurray - 14/14 Rotation - Fly-in/Fly-out**

  • *Key Responsibilities**
  • *Safety Program Execution**
  • Work with site field staff, management teams, and MSCP’s Health & Safety Team to implement and continuously improve MSCP's H&S systems.
  • Assist in identifying hazards, assessing risks, and developing/implementing effective controls.
  • Respond to incidents, help ensure employees receive appropriate medical attention, and support early or modified return-to-work arrangements in coordination with the appropriate internal teams..
  • Monitor day-to-day implementation of MSCP and client H&S programs while supporting a strong field presence each week.
  • *Documentation, Compliance & Audits**
  • Manage H&S document databases and digital platforms to ensure accuracy of documents, investigations, and contractor records.
  • Coordinate and participate in incident investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct HSMS (Standards & Advisory) audits and COR audits of facilities, work areas, and equipment.
  • Follow up on audit actions and assist with removing barriers to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal OHS legislation along with MSCP and site-specific safety standards.
  • *Training, Communication & Continuous Improvement**
  • Support the collection, analysis, and distribution of safety and training information across MSCP.
  • Coordinate, organize, and monitor H&S training programs aligned with MSCP’s competency and digital documentation expectations.
  • Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Joint Health & Safety Committee participation.
  • Help review safety objectives, highlight improvement opportunities, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with implementing new safety standards, programs, and site-specific action plans.
  • *Qualifications**
  • University Degree, College Diploma, or Technical Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
  • OHS Professional Certification or NCSO preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of H&S experience in industrial or construction environments.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (non-GDL).
  • Strong understanding of Alberta OHS legislation, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Experience conducting investigations and preparing written safety reports.
  • Ability to work effectively in a digital environment (MS Office, web-based systems, digital forms, tracking platforms).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to influence, collaborate, and build relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Mature, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently while managing sensitive information.
