About the Opportunity

Our client, in Southern Alberta operating an industrial facility, is seeking a Safety Compliance Manager to lead and elevate the organization's Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) compliance programs.

This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned health & safety professional who is strongly compliance-oriented (rather than operational HSE) and experienced in complex, regulated industrial environments. You'll oversee safety governance, risk management frameworks, audits, and compliance readiness across a fast-paced, production-driven operation.

If you thrive in environments where safety leadership, regulatory alignment, and high-impact prevention programs truly matter, this role offers the chance to make an immediate and long-lasting impact.

What You'll DoOHS Leadership & Compliance Oversight

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all safety compliance systems, policies, and programs.
  • Ensure strict adherence to provincial and federal codes, standards, and legislation.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and support the facility in moving from baseline compliance to a proactive safety management model.

Regulatory & Audit Management

  • Serve as the primary contact during government inspections, third-party audits, and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain certification and audit readiness (e.g., COR), including closing out findings, creating corrective action plans, and preparing compliance documentation.

Safety Analytics, KPI Management & Reporting

  • Direct and coach Safety Supervisors and Safety Analytics staff.
  • Establish KPIs for compliance programs and track performance across all safety initiatives.
  • Prepare and present safety performance reports, incident data, and leading indicators to senior leadership.

Hazard Identification & Prevention Programs

  • Develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safe operating procedures, emergency response plans, and plant-wide hazard recognition tools.
  • Review equipment and contractor documentation for OHS content and incorporate findings into program enhancements.

Training, Engagement & Culture Building

  • Design and deliver training in safety compliance, hazard recognition, emergency response, and best practices.
  • Coach supervisors and production teams to reinforce high-impact safety behaviours.
  • Champion a safety-first culture through consistent communication and engagement.

Incident Response & Professional Standards

  • Respond to serious incidents and ensure proper investigation, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting systems to protect organizational interests and compliance status.

What You Bring

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety (or related field).
  • CRSP designation preferred (not required).
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in safety compliance within industrial, manufacturing, or high-volume processing environments.
  • Strong understanding of plant processes, equipment, and industrial operations.
  • Proven ability to build credibility, influence stakeholders, and drive compliance excellence.
  • Experience designing safety programs, conducting audits, developing JHAs, and implementing leading indicator strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver under pressure.
