Safety Advisor - Local - Carseland

We are seeking experienced Safety Advisor for our Orica project in the Carseland, Alberta. The successful candidates will be responsible for and oversee implementation, monitoring, guidance, inspection and auditing of the Owner’s and Contractor’s EHS management system. You must be local to the area.

Responsibilities

• Monitor effectiveness of EHS management system implementation and provide guidance on appropriate remedial actions and/or improvement plans for EH&S performance
• Monitor implementation of EHS project execution plans and participate in update/reviews to ensure alignment with the EHS management system
• Participate in incident reporting, investigation and follow-up as well as EHS audit and inspection
• Conduct frequent EHS inspections and FLRA field audits
• Participate in the review of findings from EHS inspections and incident investigations
• Collate EHS performance reports and maintain EHS performance data for internal and external use
• Conduct formal EHS management system audits and physical/compliance inspections to identify shortcomings or system failures.
• Identify weaknesses and assist management with workable due diligence solutions for the correction of identified deficiencies
• Provide advice, guidance and support to the construction team with regards to compliance with safety, health and environmental laws, codes, regulations and standards
• Provide support and feedback to the construction management team through review of contractor standards, procedures and work practices to ensure compliance with applicable legislation and project requirements to enhance field safety

Requirements

• Professional qualification in construction safety implementation (CRSP, CSP, NCSO)
• Minimum 5 years progressive experience in an industrial construction EHS role, experience in a scaffolding environment is an asset
• Previous experience in incident and investigation management, including root cause analysis and emergency response processes
• Experienced working in a contractor environment is essential
• Familiar with provincial/federal regulatory legislation associated with construction and oil and gas
• Energetic and have a high regard for safety and the environment
• Capable of organizing and chairing meetings with diverse groups of people
• Knowledge of applicable Federal and Provincial regulations is required
• Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
• Must possess valid CSTS 2020(Construction Safety Training Systems) certification
• Must possess valid WHMIS2015
• Must possess valid First Aid
• Must possess a valid form of government issued photo identification
• Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision

• Shift will then be a 4 on 3 off schedule working 10hrs/day
• During Shut Down will then be a 6 on 2 off schedule working 10hrs/day
• Must be Local NO LOA or Travel
• 6 Month Duration with possible extension or site transfer upon project completion
