Our client, a leading provider of specialized cleaning and sanitation services, is seeking a highly diligent and proactive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Officer to join their fully remote operations team. This critical role ensures that all services are delivered in strict accordance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring EHS programs to safeguard employees, clients, and the environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs and policies. Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local EHS regulations and standards. Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing preventative measures. Develop and deliver EHS training programs to employees, ensuring awareness and understanding of safety procedures. Maintain accurate EHS records, including incident reports, training logs, and inspection findings. Prepare and submit EHS reports to regulatory agencies and senior management. Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization by advocating for safe work practices and continuous improvement. Stay up-to-date with EHS legislation, industry best practices, and emerging trends. Collaborate with operational teams to integrate EHS considerations into daily activities and project planning. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably within the cleaning or facility management industry. In-depth knowledge of Canadian EHS regulations and compliance requirements. Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex EHS information. Proficiency in EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote setting. Relevant certifications (e.g., CRSP, CSP) are highly desirable.
