**Position Summary**

407 ETR is looking for an Advisor, Health & Safety who will be reporting to the Director, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), and will provide assistance and input to the development and maintenance of the company’s Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS).

  • *Responsibilities**
  • OHSMS Development: Participate in the development and maintenance of a management system based upon the requirements of the IHSA CORTM and ISO 45001 Standards. Act as the administrator of an online tool / platform to support the OHSMS (to be determined).
  • Risk Management Framework: Maintain the Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Risk Registry and the Workplace Violence (WV) Risk Registry, including stakeholdering, management of change and approval processes.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Collect KPI data from all data owners and produce monthly summary and performance reports and dashboards.
  • Compliance and HSE Training: Working in conjunction with all business units, centralize legislated training requirements and maintain a master training matrix. Organize and schedule training and maintain training records and/or certificates.
  • Document Control: Help develop and/or update relevant policies, procedures, practices, rules, plans, guidelines, etc.
  • Committees: Schedule the Joint, Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) and the Wellness Committee meetings, record / keep meeting minutes and follow-up on actions. Represent the HSE Department on other committees, as required.
  • HSE Compliance: Help optimize the existing processes to ensure HSE compliance e.g. safety boards, first aid program, JHSC inspections, near-miss and incident reporting with a particular focus on nonconformity, corrective action / preventive action identification, action tracking and follow-up.
  • Inspections & Audits: Conduct monthly OHS inspections and annual OHSMS audits. Follow up with action owners to make sure that all actions identified through the inspections and audits are properly and timely resolved. Maintain a centralized corrective actions register.
  • OHS Programs: Lead incident investigations (including executive incident reviews), WSIB claims management and occupational return to work, ergonomic assessments, toolbox talks (in collaboration with Highway Operations), safety meetings and other applicable programs.
  • Wellness: Contribute to the planning and organization of annual wellness initiatives.
  • *Qualifications**
  • Working knowledge of the IHSA CORTM and ISO 45001 Standards.
  • Advanced computer user, including thorough knowledge of the MS Office package.
  • Skills and experience with complex databases, including manual data entry.
  • Event scheduling, training coordination and recordkeeping.
  • Time-management, multitasking, attention to detail, flexibility and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Diploma and/or Degree in a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 5 years or relevant work experience.
  • Certification in one or a combination of the following will be considered an asset:
  • IHSA CORTM Auditor
  • ISO 45001 Auditor
