The Occupational Injury Advisor in the Workplace Health & Safety department is a professional position reporting to the Workplace Health & Safety Occupational Injury Manager. The incumbent works with a high degree of independence and in concert with other professionals. The Occupational Injury Advisor position responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: initial claim submission review, receive and review medical correspondence, interpret and support any functional restrictions, supports return to work planning and provides any return-to-work updates. The Occupational Injury Advisor maintains communication with all partners to facilitate and maintain a safe and timely return to work. This communication includes collaboration with managers, workers, HRBP, benefit provider(s) and union partners (if applicable). The Occupational Injury Advisor collaborates with both internal and external treatment providers such as WCB approved practitioners, WHS Safety Advisors, OHN’s and Medical Consultants. The Occupational Injury Advisor provides a supportive role in workplace accommodations and is also responsible to monitor claim duration to ensure benefit eligibility.
Description
The Occupational Injury Advisor in the Workplace Health & Safety department is a professional position reporting to the WHS Manager. This position specializes in the active case management of occupational injury/illness situations that are reportable to the Workers Compensation Board. The Advisor will take an active role in facilitating early to work by having: Excellent organizational and time management skills along with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with numerous interruptions. Skilled at preparing various types of correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. A thorough understanding of the WCB appeals process. Workplace Accommodation process.
