SUMMARY: The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for all company safety procedures and policies at the federal, state, and local regulations and codes. In this position, you will manage the EH&S program across all NSU regions for all business units that include Corporate, Operations, Site Services and engineering. In addition, provide troubleshooting and corrective action support to NSU staff that manage, design, construct and operate various water and wastewater systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the Safety Committee and runs monthly meetings
  • Inspects facilities to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Promotes environmental, health and safety awareness through continuous and timely EHS communications.
  • Report, monitor, investigate, and track employee workers compensation claims.
  • Manage vehicle accident reporting and claims
  • Develops and implements policies and practices to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions
  • Manage and continuously update the company's construction safety program adapting to various clients needs and regulations
  • Continually monitor state and federal safety guidelines and adapt NSU policies to match
  • Conducts accident investigations to determine root cause and necessary corrective actions
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual PWS water and wastewater State and Federal environmental reports
  • Develop and deliver training programs related to OSHA and EPA regulations and requirements
  • Client/Customer Monitoring Reports (water, wastewater, and air): Manage the overall compliance and submission of such reports to local agencies with the support of the local Regional Coordinators.
  • Conduct EH&S on-site inspections, reviews and technical assistance visits
  • Conduct hazard and risk assessments and develop new or, where necessary, make recommendations to safety policies and procedures
  • Manage and maintain an environmental risk register for water and wastewater excursions by site, trend compliance and predict non-compliance issues at troubled sites.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 Logs and US Labor statistic records for multiple sites
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate the community infection prevention program to prevent, recognize, and control the onset and spread of infection.
  • Responsible for coordinating the infection control program which analysis of data and developing reports.
  • Monitor's government activity and regulations regarding public health crises
  • Collaborates with teams and individuals to create and sustain infection prevention strategies and provide feedback.
  • Teaches staff company practices as they relate to infection control and prevention.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises 1-3 employees within the EH&S department.
  • Develop and lead a formal continuous improvement program within the department in concert with the corporate initiative.
  • Lead, guide and mentor junior EH&S staff
  • Indirectly supervise up to 5 operations staff members assisting with monthly reporting
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related field
  • Professional certifications
  • Knowledgeable in OSHA General Industry and Construction standards and Federal and State environmental regulations
  • At least ten years' experience in Safety Management, Risk Management and Environmental Management
  • Master's in Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene (Desired)
  • Licensed wastewater treatment operator (Desired)
  • Experience in water and wastewater treatment (Desired)
  • Computer skills required:
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook

  • Computer and/or tablet and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, scanner, and computer printer
