Job Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist II supports site leadership in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role leads risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety program implementation to ensure a safe working environment and regulatory adherence. The position partners closely with plant teams to strengthen safety culture and proactively improve environmental and workplace safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement chemical process safety program elements to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with technical standards
  • Develop and deliver environmental health and safety training based on regulatory updates and operational procedures
  • Lead incident investigations including fire, spill, and medical events and recommend corrective actions
  • Facilitate safety committee activities and provide guidance on hazard identification and risk control
  • Conduct site self assessments and risk assessments to strengthen safety and environmental programs
  • Provide compliance guidance to departments regarding federal, state, and local regulations
  • Develop and maintain environmental health and safety procedures, programs, and recordkeeping systems
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory agency interactions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related science field
  • Experience managing environmental, health, and safety programs in a regulated manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations and environmental compliance requirements
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training
  • Proficiency with computer systems, databases, and compliance tracking tools
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of quality system regulations and standards impacting chemical, biological, or medical device manufacturing
  • Experience with process safety equipment and environmental control systems
  • Prior experience supporting audits and regulatory inspections

Pay Range: $40/hr to $42/hr
