We have partnered with a growing company in the industrial sector, seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to develop, implement, and oversee all health and safety policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial health and safety management, preferably within the HVAC or manufacturing industry, along with expertise in Québec, Canadian, and U.S. safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update health and safety policies in compliance with CNESST, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
- Implement safety programs and initiatives to promote a culture of safety across multiple locations.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and hazard assessments.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies tailored to each site.
- Organize and conduct health and safety training sessions for all staff levels in both Canada and the U.S.
- Ensure employees are well-informed about safety protocols and emergency procedures specific to their location.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses at various sites.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Stay updated on health and safety legislation in both Québec/Canada and New York/USA.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and represent the company during inspections and audits.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for multiple facilities.
- Coordinate regular emergency drills to ensure readiness.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and training.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on health and safety performance.
- Work closely with operations, engineering, and HR departments across different locations.
- Promote safety best practices throughout the organization.
- Regular travel between sites is required.
What we are looking for
- A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role within the industrial sector.
- Experience in the HVAC or chiller industry is an asset.
- Proven ability to manage health and safety programs in both Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions.
- Strong understanding of Québec occupational health and safety regulations (CNESST) and U.S. OSHA standards.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
