Role: EHS Manager

Location: Bishopville, SC or Casa Grande, AZ (Required)*

Position Summary

The EH&S Manager is responsible for compliance with all Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Regulations in a manufacturing environment. This position will be accountable for managing the safety culture, environmental compliance, and training functions to ensure that facility meets the goals and milestones identified by the company. The EH&S Manager also is a member of the facility leadership team and is expected to collaborate and partner with Operations Management, Human Resources, Supervisors, and all hourly Team Members. Position Responsibilities

  • Actively participate on site leadership team in the areas of Operating Plans, Strategic Planning, Corporate EHS initiatives, internal auditing, management systems, compliance initiatives and governmental/regulatory reporting.
  • Lead EHS culture change within the facility
  • Manage Environmental Compliance Programs and provide direction for improvement of programs
  • Provide EHS technical support for projects within the plant; serves as the site EHS technical expert
  • Fulfill a leadership role in coordinating successful implementation of compliant Industrial Hygiene Programs
  • Conduct inspections and assessments to evaluate the site's compliance with OSHA standards; prioritizes programs to address identified gaps
  • Maintains OSHA records and coordinate with on site medical team, assisting with the return to work program.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and programs to maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal, and company requirements. Environmental - NPDES/Storm Water, Waste water treatment, Hazardous waste, Title V/Air emissions and Air permits, Tier II and required regulatory reporting.
  • Detailed knowledge of OSHA general industry standard – LOTO, Heavy machinery, NFPA, Cutting Welding Brazing, Cranes, PIT’s, Walking, Working Surfaces, PPE, Hazardous communications and Emergency Response.
  • Serve as a liaison and maintains relationships with regulatory agencies (including inspections) and insuring the best possible outcome
  • Develop required training programs and maintains employee safety training records and coordinates retraining to ensure compliance
  • Interpret existing and proposed changes regarding occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Report and communicate incidents per the Company protocol; tracks, reports, and analyzes EHS performance and implements corrective action as necessary
  • Develop and implement site emergency response plans and serves as the emergency coordinator for events
  • Management of root cause incident investigation program; assists in developing and implementing corrective actions to resolve EHS issues and tracks action items to closure
  • Submit reports as required.
  • Manage EHS department personnel, developing resources, and ensuring departmental growth and organizational sustainability
  • Manage the job safety program; ensuring completion of Safety Assessments (JSA), PPE Assessments, and incident investigations
  • Ensure site compliance with Federal, State, Local and internal environmental regulations, programs and guidelines by maintaining and monitoring the internal environmental information compliance system for facility.
  • Prepare and implement written environmental programs and policies when needed
  • Coordinate environmental sampling and contractors as needed to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and best practices
  • Analyze/interpret plant safety metrics to proactively target and eliminate injuries, reduce injury rates and achieve positive outcomes through development and execution of corrective actions and strategic plans
  • Ensure accurate and timely EHS record keeping, document management, and required files. Management of the regulatory reporting programs, Waste, Air, Water and OSHA documents
  • Prepare long term EHS departmental plans to ensure a proactive response to long term risks

Financial Responsibility

  • No cost center responsibility; no profit and loss responsibility

Position Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor Degree – EHS related discipline or Engineering. (Science or EHS specific such as Chemistry, Safety Engineering, Industrial Safety, Environmental Engineering.)
  • Advanced degree not required but favorable

Experience

  • Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressive EHS experience
  • Must have manufacturing experience; multi-site responsibility preferred
  • EHS departmental management with increasing responsibilities and career progression

Certification /License

  • ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or PE preferred but not required based upon experience.

  • Up to 50% (between Casa Grande and Bishopville)
