Quality and Safety Coordinator

Description
Under the limited supervision of the Senior Quality Manager and the Corporate Risk & Continuous Improvement Director, the Quality & Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that products meet company, customer, and regulatory quality and food safety requirements. This role conducts testing and analysis of incoming and outgoing products, supports food safety and quality systems, enforces safety and 5S programs, and assists with plant operations and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Quality & Food Safety
- Conduct analytical and quality testing in accordance with internal standards and customer specifications.
- Verify incoming raw materials and outgoing finished products meet established specifications.
- Develop, implement, and execute procedures to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards and to ensure we are audit ready.
- Prepare and maintain accurate quality documentation, including test reports, inspection logs, certifications, and Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
- Create and issue outgoing Certificates of Analysis.
- Troubleshoot quality issues, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate third-party laboratory testing as required.
- Maintain and assist with calibration of testing equipment.
- Lead the product hold program and maintain the product hold log.
- Serve as HACCP/Food Safety Coordinator and participate as a member of the Food Safety Team.
- Participate in facility inspections, internal audits, and third-party audits as applicable.
- Provide quality and food safety training to plant employees.
- Support plant operations and cross-functional teams as needed.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Enforce safety programs and 5S initiatives.
- Conduct quarterly safety inspections.
- Maintain and continuously improve site safety programs and provide training.
- Travel monthly or as needed to attend safety training or support safety initiatives.
Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and business needs.
- Assist production with data entry and production packets
Requirements
Education & Certification
- HACCP and/or PCQI Certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of grain products and related testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation practices.
- Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
