We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join our Calgary team. This role is perfect for someone passionate about maintaining a safe workplace, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture across all operations.

What You'll Do

Safety Program Management

  • Lead and maintain Lux’s health and safety program in compliance with Alberta OHS legislation and COR standards.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations; recommend corrective actions and track safety metrics.
  • Maintain and update safety documentation, procedures, and records, including SWPs, JHAs, PPE requirements, and emergency response plans.
  • Manage WCB claims, modified work programs, and regulatory reporting, including right-to-refuse processes.

Training & Culture

  • Organize and deliver safety orientations, training sessions, certifications, and safety committee meetings.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across all teams and departments.
  • Coordinate contractor and visitor safety programs, fleet safety initiatives, and compliance monitoring.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with supervisors and employees to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  • Stay current with evolving safety regulations, standards, and best practices to continuously strengthen Lux’s safety program.
  • Support leadership with safety communications, policy development, and strategic safety initiatives.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience leading safety programs in manufacturing, construction, or trades environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation, COR standards, and workplace safety best practices.
  • Experience managing workplace inspections, incident investigations, and safety training programs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Hands-on, collaborative approach with a commitment to fostering a positive safety culture.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with safety management systems.

Preferred Skills/Certifications

  • Certified in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NCSO, NHSA)
  • First Aid / CPR Certification
  • WHMIS Train-the-Trainer Certification
