DEPARTMENT: Loss Prevention

JOB TITLE: Risk & Safety Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Loss Prevention

SUPERVISES: Loss Prevention Supervisors/Loss Prevention Agents

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

Manages Loss prevention operations and staff on a daily basis. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to protection of hotel assets, protection of associates, guests, and property; accident, Workers Compensations, and fire protection. Ensures that all areas of the Hotel are safe and secure. As a leader of the Loss Prevention Department, you will work with other Managers and employees to successfully execute all Loss Prevention plans, directives, and initiatives; strives to continually improve employee and guest satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES

  • Maintains control of all security investigations, reports all infractions to laws, company policies, and breaches of security to Supervisor or Risk Management representatives as appropriate.
  • Completes all record keeping requirements in accordance with property and state standards to include OSHA 300/200/101 logs, first report of injury, and employee accident analysis.
  • Primary point of contact for Workers Compensation & Hotel loss claims.
  • Conducts hazard and risk assessments at the property to include OSHA/Safety audits.
  • Oversees Safety Committee and facilitates monthly Safety Committee Meetings
  • Create, monitor and control department budget and expenses.
  • Control and maintain patrols of internal and external areas of property.
  • Responsible for securing building including Inspecting and securing all entrances and exits and proper function of safety equipment.
  • Respond to all guest and employee issues, concerns, and/or disputes.
  • Investigate all accusations of theft and wrong doing.
  • Investigate all cases referred by General Manager or other management personnel.
  • Protects employee’s, guest’s, and company assets by providing a safe and secure property.
  • To patrol and secure control of hotel parking area.
  • Inspecting packages leaving property and observation of person(s) in all areas of hotel property.
  • Control all items being discarded or removed from property.
  • Provide basic first aid to injured employees or guests and make recommendations to Manager or injured person as to any additional medical attention that may be required or requested.
  • To complete all investigation regarding incidents which occur to the guests or employees, including preparing loss and incident reports with the data to aid in the formal investigation.
  • Observe and monitor property key control and related equipment for all departments.
  • Serve to escort various departments dealing in cash, for safe transport of company assets and/or escort employees and guests when requested.
  • Serve on First Response Team in case of emergency situations.
  • Serves guests, employees, and visitors as requested or appropriate
  • Hires, trains and Supervises other members of the Loss Prevention Department.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time and great distances.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs (may have to run of some occasions.)
  • May be required to work outside on the hotel grounds.

Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of handling all types of people, emergencies, and stressful situations.

  • SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Must have the ability to comprehend instructions.
  • Must have verbal and written communication skills.

Must have the ability to help and work with others.

  • EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Three years of college with a degree in Criminal Justice or related field, preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Experience in Law Enforcement, private security, or military police helpful.

Three years experience in the security/loss prevention field as a supervisor.

First Aid CPR Certified instructor, preferred.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

Licensed Security agent as required by State or local authorities.

SALARY RANGE

$80,000 - $82,000
