Hse Manager
Perma-Pipe Canada, Ltd.Perma-Pipe Canada, Ltd. is a dynamic, global supplier of pipe coating solutions and factory pre-insulated piping systems to the oil & gas, district heating and cooling and industrial markets. We are now recruiting an **HSE Manager** to support our growing business and provide HSE direction to both Alberta and Ontario facilities.
The **HSE Manager** will recommend strategic direction and implement plans based on recent safety audit results, and will ensure that our policies and programs meet legislated requirements. Responsibilities will include training employees in safety management best practices, hazard identification and the development of safe work procedures, identifying, developing and delivering safety training supplements, providing day-to-day guidance and advice. The HSE Manager will also be responsible for directing support for the safety requirements of significant projects.
- *DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Implement safety practices, policies and plans of the company.
- Provide necessary training, leadership, organization and control to meet the company's goal of zero injuries.
- Accept full authority to take any necessary action to maintain overall safe practices and procedures, including the authority to cease an unsafe operating procedure.
- Implement information flow and data publications to ensure each level of management is properly informed of all activities relative to compliance with company safety policies and bulletins.
- Orientation of new employees with safety instruction including, but not limited to Dangerous Goods, WHMIS, driver, warehouse, and maintenance personnel education.
- Monitor and measure effectiveness of all safety programs and documentation required as part of compliance with Occupational Health & Safety in multiple provincial locations.
- Develop a team from within the company to ensure safety and compliance is observed at all levels.
- Maintenance and development of practices and procedures for WCB claims and and assist in return to work process
- Oversee modified work programs, monitoring claims for areas of objection and then formulating objections/appeals
- Conduct accident investigations as necessary to assist with liability determination and causation, including resolution of open claims
- Coordinate inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities with departments.
- Respond to workers with work-related injuries and if required accompany employees to the healthcare centre(s) and/or physiotherapy appointments.
- Eligible for company annual incentive plan
- *QUALIFICATIONS**:
- 5 years’ experience as a Safety Manager
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
- Experience with both Alberta and Ontario legislation
- CRSP, CHSC or MSO designation preferred
- Experience in research, analysis, interpretation and implementation of safety regulations, standards, and best practices as they pertain to PPC’s operations
- Understand and have complete knowledge of all Federal, Provincial rules and regulations pertaining to safety codes and Occupational Health and Safety rules
- Direct experience assessing training needs, creating training materials to fulfill those needs, and then delivering the training
- Excellent at creating high quality presentations using a variety of technologies (e.g. WebEx, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.)
- Advanced written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with individuals
- Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate, and improve others
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and other stakeholders
