Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer to join their team in Quebec City, Quebec, CA . This pivotal role involves developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive EHS programs to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and foster a safe and healthy working environment for all employees. You will play a key role in risk assessment, incident investigation, training development, and the continuous improvement of EHS performance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with federal, provincial, and local regulations. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with EHS standards. Lead and participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective and preventative actions. Develop and deliver EHS training programs to employees at all levels, promoting a strong safety culture. Manage hazardous waste disposal and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Maintain EHS documentation, records, and reporting systems, including incident logs and audit findings. Liaise with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders on EHS matters. Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on EHS best practices and legal requirements. Oversee the emergency preparedness and response plans for the facility. Contribute to the development and achievement of annual EHS objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs). Promote a proactive approach to EHS through engagement, communication, and visible leadership. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in an EHS role, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing setting. In-depth knowledge of Canadian federal and Quebec provincial EHS regulations. Experience with hazard identification, risk assessment (e.g., JHA, PHA), and control measures. Proven ability to develop and deliver effective training programs. Strong understanding of environmental management systems and hazardous materials handling. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in using EHS management software and standard office applications. Certification such as CRSP (Certified Registered Safety Professional) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) is highly desirable. Fluency in French is required.
