Our client a well-established utility construction contractor serving the Greater Toronto Area is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and oversee all company safety programs and regulatory compliance initiatives.
Job Overview
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the EHS Manager will plan, organize, and oversee all Environmental Health & Safety initiatives across the organization. This role is responsible for developing policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, coordinating safety training, and supporting leadership in maintaining a strong safety culture across field and office operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs
- Ensure compliance with provincial regulations including the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and the Environmental Protection Act (EPA)
- Coordinate internal and external safety training programs
- Compile and manage documentation for audits and regulatory reviews
- Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and leadership to meet safety objectives
- Maintain relationships with auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders
- Promote continuous improvement in safety performance across operations
Qualifications
- 5+ years of EHS leadership experience, preferably within electrical utility or construction environments
- Strong knowledge of Ontario utility safety regulations and standards including EUSA guidelines
- Experience working in ISO and COR certified environments
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Own vehicle required
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated longevity in previous roles
