Position: Director of Health & Safety
The Director of Health & Safety leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a world‑class safety culture across both owned facilities and outsourced operations. The leader will drive a proactive risk‑management culture, foster accountability, and embed safety as a core company value.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Health & Safety strategy aligned with company growth and operational goals.
- Lead the cultural transformation of safety practices at owned sites—fostering trust, communication, and ownership at all levels.
- Serve as senior advisor to leadership on all safety matters, providing insight into risk trends, leading indicators, and performance outcomes.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee safety programs across two power plants and outsourced operations.
- Establish clear contractor safety expectations, ensuring third‑party O&M providers operate to company standards.
- Lead audits, incident investigations, and root‑cause analyses to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state regulations in partnership with local site leadership.
Culture & Capability Building
- Coach and develop site leadership teams to own safety performance and model desired behaviors.
- Implement training, communication, and recognition programs that reinforce a strong safety mindset.
- Promote a "speak up" culture, ensuring employees and contractors feel empowered to identify and address risks.
Governance & Metrics
- Establish consistent safety KPIs and reporting frameworks to track performance across owned and outsourced operations.
- Partner with Operations and Development (Infra) to align safety goals with performance management systems.
- Present safety metrics and insights to executive leadership and the Board.
Qualifications
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive HSE experience in energy, utilities, or industrial operations, with exposure to data center, power generation, or infrastructure environments.
- Proven success leading culture change in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
- Experience managing outsourced contractors and service providers.
- Strong familiarity with U.S. OSHA, EPA regulations.

- Strategic thinker who is also comfortable on the ground—able to balance long‑term goals with immediate operational realities.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Calm under pressure, with strong judgment in sensitive or high‑stakes situations.
- Data‑driven, outcome‑oriented, and able to translate metrics into actionable insights.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or an equivalent credential preferred.

- Work schedule: Monday–Friday, New York City office, 4 days on‑site, 1 day WFH.
