Health and Safety Coordinator
HaysYour new company
We’ve partnered with an established full-service construction management and general contracting firm operating across Ontario, delivering hospitality, residential, commercial, and institutional projects. The organization is known for its hands-on leadership, strong safety culture, and commitment to delivering projects on time and on budget. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to support their projects primarily in the Toronto area.
Your new role
As the Health & Safety Coordinator, you will work closely with and directly support the Health & Safety Manager in implementing and monitoring company-wide health and safety programs. You will play a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture across active construction sites while ensuring compliance with Ontario health and safety legislation.
In this role, you will conduct site inspections and audits, assist with incident investigations, and support the development and maintenance of health and safety documentation. You will help coordinate safety training, maintain accurate records, deliver toolbox talks, and communicate safety expectations to project teams and subcontractors. The position also involves supporting Ministry of Labour inspections, WSIB documentation, and ongoing compliance initiatives across multiple job sites.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring 1–3 years of experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry, along with post-secondary education or certification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. You will have a solid understanding of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WSIB processes, and other applicable safety legislation.
You will be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both office and active construction site environments. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to influence safe work practices. Proficiency in MS Office and health and safety platforms such as SiteDocs is expected. A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
What you'll get in return
In return, you’ll be offered a competitive compensation package aligned with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits program that includes extended health and dental coverage, vision care, tuition reimbursement, on-site parking, and company events. You’ll join a supportive and professional team environment that values safety, collaboration, and long-term development.
