Health Safety Environment Coordinator
HaysHays is proud to partner with a leading national general contractor to recruit an experienced Safety Coordinator for their Edmonton operations. Our client delivers large-scale commercial and infrastructure projects across Canada and is known for their strong commitment to safety, quality, and team collaboration. Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of project-specific Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) programs on active construction sites.
- Conduct routine inspections, audits, and hazard assessments; document results and assist with corrective action follow-up.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and daily support to site teams to reinforce safe work practices and ensure compliance.
- Participate in incident investigations and contribute to the creation of preventive action strategies.
- Lead or assist with orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training sessions.
- Ensure full compliance with Alberta OH&S legislation, industry best practices, and company-specific safety standards.
- Maintain accurate and organized safety documentation, reporting, and records.
- Collaborate closely with project management, subcontractors, and corporate safety leadership to sustain and improve safety culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a safety-related role within construction setting.
- A recognized safety designation such as NCSO, CRSP, or equivalent is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation and construction safety requirements.
- Strong communication abilities with an approachable, coaching-oriented style.
- Comfortable supporting multiple project sites in a dynamic environment.
- Valid driver’s license; local travel within the Edmonton region required.
