We are looking for experienced Health and Safety Officers (HSO) to work together with Construction Companies. This specifically will be a Local position but once this one is finished we also have work all over the country. Candidates with experience working on Amazon and electrical projects preferred. Locals Only. HSO duties include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with Operations and site management to ensure initiatives are properly aligned to meet or exceed safety performance goals
  • Audit sites for compliance with Health & Safety programs and process
  • Review accident and injury data, to identify the needs for new or modified occupational safety programs.
  • Continuously engage the workforce to ensure needs and compliance are met; enforce safe behaviors and a positive safety culture
  • Provide continuous support and guidance to facility personnel to maintain a safe work environment that is consistent with the company's policies and provincial/federal regulations
  • Evaluate employee safety behavior and performance to ensure training programs are effective
  • Provide guidance on matters related to compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Participate in safety reviews/audits of projects, new facilities, equipment, or processes in conjunction with Engineering and Operations personnel
  • Must be willing to work shift assignments which may include variable shifts with weekends or holidays
  • Jobsite auditing/JSA-JHA development
  • Performing additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Knowledge of U.S. Environmental, Health and Safety laws and regulations is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong skillset with Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office tools.

Schedule

8-10 hour shifts 5-6 days per week is normal. Education:

the project safety manager shall possess a bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety plus three years of full time construction safety management experience, or a board-certified safety credential from a nationally-recognized organization (for example, in the United States CSP, CIH, ASP, and CHST and in Canada CRSP and CCOHS) and five years of full-time construction safety management experience, or in the United States a current OSHA 500

certification ( or Canadian equivalent) and six years of full-time construction safety management experience. Experience:
