Location: Hauppauge, NY - 4 days on site - 1 day remote + travel up to 50% of the time to other locations
Salary: 110k-135k
Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to oversee and support company-wide workplace safety programs across multiple facilities and field locations. This role is responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting inspections, managing incident investigations, and supporting injured employees through a compassionate and structured return-to-work process. The Safety Manager functions as a highly autonomous, field-focused safety leader with broad influence across operations, distribution, and corporate environments.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Oversight
- Lead the implementation, execution, and ongoing improvement of organizational safety programs.
- Ensure consistent adoption of safety policies, procedures, and best practices across all supported locations.
- Monitor safety metrics, identify trends, and recommend risk-reduction strategies.
- Provide guidance, communication, and training support to local safety representatives.
- Act as the escalation point for high-risk incidents, compliance gaps, and safety concerns.
Inspections, Audits & Compliance
- Conduct routine and ad-hoc safety inspections across facilities and field sites.
- Identify hazards, document findings, and work with leadership to implement corrective actions.
- Partner with fleet operations to review logs, inspections, and fleet-safety compliance.
Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
- Respond promptly to workplace injuries, accidents, and near-misses.
- Lead detailed incident investigations and prepare formal reports for leadership review.
- Develop and track corrective and preventive actions.
Training & Safety Engagement
- Coordinate and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and employee engagement activities.
- Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and maintain all required postings and regulatory communications.
Reporting, Documentation & Data Management
- Maintain OSHA logs, incident reports, safety records, and training documentation.
- Track safety metrics, corrective actions, and audit results.
- Prepare reports and summaries for leadership and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement & Risk Reduction
- Identify opportunities to reduce injuries, fleet incidents, and operational risk.
- Stay current on OSHA standards, industry best practices, and regulatory changes.
- Support company-wide safety initiatives and special projects.
Claims Support
- Serve as a secondary resource to workers' compensation claims administration, supporting communication with third-party administrators as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour certification required (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
Experience
- 5+ years of progressive experience in workplace safety, risk management, or EHS.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations in field or facility settings.
- Hands-on experience with inspections, investigations, and safety training.
- Familiarity with OSHA, fleet safety, and workers' compensation processes.

- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, geographically dispersed environment.
- Solid analytical, documentation, and follow-through skills.
- Compassionate communication style when working with injured employees.
- High level of discretion and professionalism with sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and safety reporting systems.
- Ability to travel up to 30% between facilities and field locations.

Pay Details: $110,000.00 to $135,000.00 per year
