Who We Are

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more GO service across the network, including the capacity to deliver two-way service every 15 minutes or better on core routes. Work is already underway on new track, station renovations and infrastructure upgrades on parts of the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener and Barrie lines. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network.

What You Will Do

  • Lead comprehensive safety programs across multiple construction sites, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and company EHS standards.
  • Directed incident investigations, including high-risk and recordable events, performing detailed root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with project leadership during pre-planning stages to identify risks and embed safety controls into project execution strategies
  • Conduct advanced site audits and inspections, driving continuous improvement and reducing incident rates.
  • Provide expert guidance and coaching to supervisors and site teams to strengthen accountability and safety discipline.
  • Manage WSIB claims processes, including early intervention strategies and return-to-work programs, reducing claim duration and costs.
  • Developed and delivered targeted safety training programs, enhancing workforce competency and compliance.
  • Mentored junior safety advisors, supporting their development and ensuring consistency in safety practices across projects.

What you bring

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a heavy civil construction Health and Safety position.
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • Completed or working towards a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification is considered an asset.
  • A valid G-class driver's license is a must.
  • Experience working on rail construction projects is an asset. Familiar with rail construction terminology
  • Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety Act, and legislation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to project management teams, subcontractors, and clients as required
  • Ability to respond to unanticipated events.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Expected compensation for this role is between $90,000.00-115,000.00 annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration. In addition to base salary ONxpress also offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, RRSP with company matching and the potential to participate in our discretionary, performance based bonus program.
