Pacific Western Transportation requires a full-time professional as a Safety and Training Specialist.
Reporting to the Learning and Development Manager, you will work with operations teams across Western Canada to support safety excellence, audits, and trainer coordination. This role blends administrative support and entry level safety functions, while providing exposure to multiple areas of the business through employer supported training and certification.
The intent of this position is to develop a well-rounded professional, adaptable across safety, training, and operational support functions, based on business needs.
Location
Mobile position to be based in Calgary or Edmonton with travel to cities and provinces as required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Data entry into compliance and incident management software, alongside other applicable systems
- Maintain precise paperwork, and timekeeping forms, if applicable
- Act as liaison, between departments, managers, and field offices
- Respond to employees, and stakeholders, in a professional and efficient manner
- Handle confidential records and file management with tact and diplomacy
Safety Component
- Conduct audits, safety paperwork, and compliance files
- Assist with incident investigations, file management, and reporting
- Support the Safety department, with pre-employment drug, and alcohol tests
- Assist with development, of the company's safety culture, and program
Training Coordination
- Prepare information packages for new trainees
- Perform classroom sessions, company road tests, and biannual road tests
- Manage training reports, trainer availability, and trainer communication
- Provide support to driving staff, for license renewals, endorsement updates, once trained
The ideal candidate will possess
- Diploma or Certificate in Safety, Administration, or related trainer background
- Comfortable with frequent travel to different cities and provinces as required
- Class 2 driver license considered an asset
- Desire to grow within the company, and willingness to undergo employer supported training, and certification after hiring
- Strong interpersonal, and communication skills, written and verbal
- High attention to detail, exceptional organization, and multi-tasking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Previous transportation, or safety support role considered an asset
- Clean driver's abstract
- Willingness to learn provincial related safety legislation, and trainer standards
