Safety Director

As the Safety Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of safety across the organization, managing a team of Safety Managers, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations. This is an executive-level leadership positions and you will play a critical leadership role in cultivating a proactive, safety-first culture and driving continuous improvement across our operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set safety strategy and long-term direction
  • Create policies and standards for the entire company
  • Make decisions that impact operations, staffing, compliance, risk management, and organizational planning
  • Building and structuring a department
  • Hiring, developing, and evaluating staff
  • Managing budgets and resource allocation
  • Setting KPIs and performance expectations for the safety function
  • Manage Safety Department
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of Construction Safety Managers (2-3) and Fleet Safety Manager (1).
  • Continuously improve current Safety Policies, Procedures and Programs.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other applicable safety regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and executive leadership to integrate safety into all phases of project planning and execution.
  • Develop Pre-Start Safety review program
  • Manage and oversee third-party safety prequalification platforms such as Avetta, ISNetworld, and Veriforce, ensuring timely submissions, documentation accuracy, and compliance status for both the company and subcontractors.
  • Draft and maintain project-specific safety plans (SSSPs), ensuring alignment with client requirements, regulatory standards, and jobsite conditions.
  • Implement, administer and oversee a safety management platform that supports:
  • Hazard communication (HazCom) (SDS documentation
  • Employee safety training and certification tracking
  • Microlearning modules and toolbox talks
  • Safety forms, documentation, and records
  • Two-way safety communications and alerts
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Electrical Safety Plan (ESP) aligned with NFPA 70E and OSHA standards to ensure safe practices when working on or near energized equipment.
  • Manage Safety and Equipment Training
  • Manage Training Schedule
  • Provide Training where necessary
  • Coordinate 3rd Party trainers
  • Manage In-house weekly Safety Meetings
  • Manage Safety Meeting schedule
  • Manage, develop, and update presentations (power point).
  • Conduct safety meetings (in English and Spanish).
  • Manage Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) program
  • Manage Fleet Safety Program along with Fleet Safety Manager
  • Driver Safety Training
  • Perform job-site safety audits and inspections along with our Safety Managers
  • Coordinate and follow-up with Supervisors to manage and resolve issues
  • Investigating incidents/accidents/near-misses. Provide root cause analysis, timely reporting, and corrective action.
  • Conduct post-incident/accident/near-miss review meetings.
  • Injury case management.
  • Conduct bi-monthly Safety & Risk Control Meetings with company ownership.
  • Travel to attend Risk Control Seminars (2 times per year). Occasional travel for out-of-state projects.
  • Seek additional certifications and training as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
