Job Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety Lead ensures that Röchling Medical Rochester complies with local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. The incumbent ensures that Röchling Medical Rochester has compliant policies and procedures which govern the safety of the employees.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop and implement workplace safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and other regulated standards.
- Responsible for tracking, recording and reporting environmental health and safety data required by Röchling corporation.
- Provide personnel with safety-related information such as training sessions, emergency protocols, and proper use of safety equipment.
- Review existing policies and procedures to ensure they are up to date.
- Oversee the company's daily operations and proactively identify opportunities for improvement of safety regulations.
- Perform safety audits and physically inspect all work areas and jobsites to identify possible safety issues.
- Conduct risk assessments to minimize workplace accidents, occupational illnesses or long-term health hazards.
- Prepare monthly or annual safety reports and present the information to management.
- Collaborate with management to plan and implement a safety protocol budget.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent knowledge of OSHA standards as well as state and federal safety legislation.
- Solid knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices in the workplace.
- Familiarity with writing health and safety policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
- Working knowledge of safety management software.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in safety management, environmental safety, or a similar field.
- A certificate in occupational health and safety management (preferred).
- At least 5 years’ experience as an environmental health and safety manager.
Physical Requirements
- Periods of walking.
- Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Visual acuity for reading electronic documentation and product labels.
- Ability to lift and move up to twenty (20) pounds.
Work Environment
- Combination of warehouse and manufacturing environment.
- Interaction with warehouse equipment and manufacturing equipment.
