Position Overview
SafetyBoss is currently seeking qualified Industrial Safety Watch / Safety Attendants to support industrial and oilfield operations across Alberta. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe work practices are followed, hazards are identified and controlled, and emergency response readiness is maintained on site.
The successful candidate will be a safety-focused professional with strong situational awareness, the ability to communicate clearly, and the confidence to intervene when unsafe work practices are observed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide continuous safety monitoring for work activities including confined space entry, hot work, line breaks, and energy isolation
- Conduct hazard assessments and ensure required controls are in place
- Monitor atmospheric testing equipment and document readings as required
- Maintain accurate safety documentation including permits, log sheets, and entry records
- Communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, and clients to ensure compliance with site safety rules
- Enforce Stop Work Authority when conditions are unsafe
- Support site safety meetings and toolbox talks as required
Required Qualifications
- Ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to work at heights
- Strong attention to detail and professional conduct
Preferred Assets
- CSO (Common Safety Orientation) , H2S Alive, Standard First Aid / CPR
- Valid driver’s license is not required, but is considered an asset
- Experience in oil & gas, construction, turnaround, and industrial environments
Bona Fide Occupational Requirement – English Language
Due to the safety-critical nature of this position, proficiency in English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension) is a bona fide occupational requirement. The successful candidate must be able to clearly understand and communicate safety instructions, emergency procedures, hazard warnings, permits, and radio communications to ensure the safety of all personnel on site.
