Food Safety & Quality Technician

  • Job Summary
  • The Food Safety and Quality Technician position is responsible for compiling data for production, performing various testing on product, and relaying the information to members of production. This position is responsible for overseeing that Food Safety and Quality policies and procedures are being followed throughout the plant.
  • Reports
  • Food Safety and Quality technician reports to the Food Safety and Quality Manager, Food Safety and Quality Assistant Manager., and Food Safety Quality Supervisor.
  • Responsibilities – include but are not limited to the following:
  • Performs Food Safety and Quality testing throughout the plant (physical checks on product, documentation, and packaging checks)
  • Document all results from testing in a timely manner on controlled documents.
  • Puts products on Food Quality holds based on product specifications.
  • Perform piece counts, halve counts, O2 testing, and moisture testing, as needed on products. Understand halves size classification and color classification.
  • Reviews operator documentation throughout the shift.
  • Assists with training on documentation, when needed.
  • Attend all FSQA meetings.
  • Training new FSQA hires as needed.
  • Verify that operators are doing metal detector checks accurately.
  • Perform cello bag checks while machines are running. Record and email data to specified personnel.
  • Record cooler temperature on documentation.
  • Inspect/follow procedures for all products being shipped, received, and returned.
  • Assist with visual inspections on allergen cleanings. Perform allergen swabbing in cello.
  • Be a leader in the plant.
  • Follow all GMP’s.
  • Understand basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
  • Be cross trained throughout the plant in all FSQA areas.
  • Lead technicians will perform hot water sanitizer checks once per shift.
  • Assist/monitor scale calibrations.
  • Additional job duties as required.

  • FSQA Technicians are cross trained throughout the plant.
  • Food Safety and Quality -
  • All employees are responsible for food safety and quality.
  • Employees are responsible for reporting any food safety and quality problems to their supervisor, production manager and/or plant manager.
  • Employees are responsible for supporting the SQF system

6. Personnel Safety –

  • Safety of employees is a top priority for South Georgia Pecan Company, and each employee needs to remember safety when preforming task of the Job.

7. Training – Training will be provided annually.
