JOB SUMMARY

The Food Safety Manager will develop and oversee all of the food safety regulations, policies, and procedures for our operation. They will also develop, implement and enforce security and food safety standards, policies, and programs including HARPC, SQF, FSMA and GFSI, regulatory audits, food safety training programs, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), product inspections, and standardized work instructions. Handle plant safety, including conducting safety audits and inspections and investigating accidents and incidents as well as creating and maintaining safety plans and trainings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

· Oversee the overall implementation of standardized food safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (Federal, State/Provincial, and Local).

· Develop and provide training for food safety and quality requirements.

· Develop and maintain documentation such as SOP’s, as well as maintenance of manuals, policies and procedures as relate to any food safety concerns.

· Conduct facility food safety, quality assurance/control, food defense, GMP audits as well as manage third party audits including workers comp.

· Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all products coming in and out of the facility meet food safety standards in addition to quality standards.

· Responsible for validating changes to food safety fundamentals and food safety plans.

· Update existing food safety procedures and documentation to keep up with changing requirements.

· Work closely with Production and Warehouse personnel on any food safety or quality issues.

· Ensure that proper maintenance and sanitation of the facility complies with food safety requirements.

· Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed and documented correctly at all times.

· Implement and monitor the Supplier Approval program.

· Overseeing inventory & distribution of goods.

· Communicate to relevant staff food safety objectives and performance measures.

· Analyze and create corrective actions for safety incidents to improve future practices and compliance.

· Train staff on safe food handling techniques and plant care protocols.

· Implement and monitor pest control measures to prevent food contamination.

· Monitor and maintain proper sanitation practices and policies in food preparation environments.

· Conduct regular inspections of food handling and storage areas for food safety.

· Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training and investigation documents.

· Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.

· Conduct regular on site safety checks and inspections to identify hazards.

· Develop and maintain Recall Plan along with quarterly/semiannual Mock Recalls.

· Serve as a backup for Office Manager and assist when needed.

· Maintain Inventory Records

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

· Successfully passed Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) exam within 4 years

· Previous experience with SQF, GFSI, Primus, BRC and/or FDA audits

· Successfully passed SQF Practitioner exam within 4 years

· Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with personnel, customers, suppliers, and other business contacts

· Ability to proactively identify challenges and develop solutions/corrective actions

· High level of integrity and accountability

· Excellent problem solving and follow up skills

· Must be comfortable working independently with minimal oversight

· Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s, for Food Processors and Manufacturers and GAP’s

· First Aid Safety & CPR Trained

· Technical acuity and confidence to act

· Time management and prioritization skills, ability to multi-task

· Punctual, Dependable and takes initiative

· 3 Years of Progressive Food Safety Quality Management

· Strong Excel Skills and ability to conduct in person Safety Trainings

· Inventory Management and Purchasing Experience

· Authorized to work in the U.S.

Pay: $35.00 - $43.00 per hour
