Region Safety Manager

What you’ll do

  • Protect the Company’s employees, customers, and assets against losses, injuries, and accidents by directing, implementing, and overseeing safety and key loss prevention programs; monitor and communicate safety-related regional/dimensional profit and loss and deliver claim cost reduction and containment metrics.
  • Ensure safety compliance by overseeing OSHA, DOT, and other compliance-related activities; enforce safe work practices and investigate incidents to identify causes and develop preventative measures.
  • Build successful business partnerships by communicating with the corporate Safety department, customer safety managers, regional management, and employees; report to business boards on regional safety issues and performance.
  • Meet safety and environmental health goals by developing and implementing training programs consistent with governmental regulations and business needs; coordinate on-site worker and supervisory safety training with insurance carriers, brokers, and outside vendors.
  • Mitigate risk exposure by identifying sources of safety and environmental risk and developing programs, policies, and procedures; avoid legal challenges by staying current on legislation; assist with safety acquisition due diligence and coordinate post-acquisition safety rollout.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by recommending best practices; drive, implement, sustain, and develop quality process improvements focused on safety, financials, operations, and customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably related to Safety and Health; master’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years progressively responsible professional-level safety-related experience.
  • Strong persuasive communication skills with all management levels; strong training and presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other operational applications.
  • Current knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, CFR 1910 and 1926, and FMCRs related to the rental industry.
  • Occupational Health‑Safety and/or accredited professional certification preferred.
  • May travel up to 50% of work time.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
