Our client, a pioneering entity in the chemical industry, is actively seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Lead Process Safety Engineer to join their fully remote global team. This crucial role demands an individual with a profound understanding of chemical processes and a steadfast commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance. The position is designed for a seasoned professional who can leverage their expertise to proactively identify and mitigate risks across various operational and developmental stages.

As the Lead Process Safety Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and maintaining robust process safety management systems. Your responsibilities will encompass conducting thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA, developing and reviewing Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization, providing technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.

Key responsibilities include

Leading and executing comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) on new and existing chemical processes. Developing, implementing, and managing Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory frameworks. Performing Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and verifying safety instrumented system (SIS) designs. Conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Reviewing and approving management of change (MOC) documentation for process modifications. Developing and delivering process safety training to engineering and operational personnel. Providing expert technical support and consultation on process safety matters to cross-functional teams. Staying abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in process safety. Auditing process safety procedures and practices to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process safety engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or similar industrial sector is required. Proven expertise in PHA methodologies, SIL determination, and PSM elements is essential. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are paramount. Professional Engineer (PE) certification is highly desirable.
