Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with national and international aviation safety standards. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification activities. Investigate incidents and accidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Develop and deliver safety training programs for all levels of personnel. Promote a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the organization. Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., Transport Canada) on safety matters. Analyze safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement. Prepare safety reports and recommendations for senior management. Manage the safety reporting system and ensure timely follow-up on all reported safety concerns. Stay current with the latest developments in aviation safety and regulatory requirements. Champion safety initiatives and ensure compliance across all operational facets.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant professional certifications (e.g., aviation safety professional) are highly desirable. Minimum of 7 years of experience in aviation safety management, regulatory compliance, or a related field. In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations (e.g., Transport Canada CARs, ICAO Annexes). Proven experience in developing and implementing Safety Management Systems (SMS). Strong understanding of risk management principles and accident investigation methodologies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse teams. Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis tools. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and high-pressure environment. Experience within the **Quebec City, Quebec, CA** aviation industry is a plus.
