The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 invites applications for the temporary position of Safety Advisor (Community Services). The successful candidate is responsible for promoting, supporting, coordinating, and advising all levels of employees and contractors within the Community Services Department (Kinosoo Ridge Resort & Parks), in all aspects concerning Occupational Health and Safety. Duties & Responsibilities: Advise the department on compliance and interpretation of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code and any other relevant legislation. Promote, support, coordinate and advise the department in all areas of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System. Advise departmental management of site-specific safety protocols and procedures to maintain compliance and promote a culture of safety. Assist with the audit process of the Safety Management System. Promote safety awareness and the use of the Safety Management System to reduce, mitigate and/or eliminate hazards. Participate, advise and report in all areas of the Inspection Process and the Incident Process. Provide support and training for the Bis Safety system and ensure the system is updated. Conduct and/or coordinate training required under the Safety Management System. Gather and manage data relating to the Safety Management System and analyze trends. Communicate all relevant active policies, directives, expectations and procedures to the department. Shut down a job or a work site in the event of imminent danger or a significant threat to health and safety. Administer and liaise with relevant authorities regarding related issues (e.g. WCB, OHS). Participate in field visits & inspections to ensure adherence to the safety program. Investigate incidents & develop and implement corrective actions. Provide vendor/contractor safety oversight. Perform other duties as directed. Qualifications: Post-Secondary education preferably Certificate in OHS. Minimum three (3) years related experience in community services, preferably in ski areas and parks. Peer auditor certification from an Alberta Certifying Partner. Strong organizational skills with the ability to organize SMART Goals and define projects through problem-solving, decision-making and trend analysis. Effective communicator displaying excellent oral and written communication skills and a superior ability to listen. Professional interpersonal skills and ability to build and nurture positive relationships. Self-motivated with an ability to work in a team environment. Good knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Possess a strong personal commitment to safety. Advanced Microsoft Office skills (e.g. Outlook, MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams) and familiarity with safety management systems. Effective record keeping skills. Ability to consistently meet deadlines. Hold a valid Driver’s License in good standing. Criminal Record Check with satisfactory results. Certified in First Aid.
