Role: Senior Health & Safety Consultant (Contract)

Location: Remote with periodic on-site support (New York, USA)

Duration: Initial 2–3 days per month over several months (with potential extension)

Background: Our client is a global investment house with established Health & Safety management systems aligned to ISO 45001 across EMEA and APAC.

Their North American (NORAM) operations now require support to implement an aligned and proportionate H&S management system.

The NORAM business operates primarily in a low-risk, office-based environment and currently adopts a light-touch approach to Occupational Health & Safety.

Scope of Services

The consultant will support the end-to-end development and implementation of an ISO 45001-aligned management system within NORAM, leveraging existing systems used elsewhere in the organisation.

Key activities include

• Initial stakeholder engagement and project mobilisation
• Review of existing global ISO 45001-aligned systems and documentation
• Gap analysis of NORAM operations against ISO 45001 requirements
• Development and adaptation of H&S policies, procedures, and frameworks suitable for a low-risk office environment
• Support with implementation, embedding, and practical application
• Advice on governance, roles, responsibilities, and assurance mechanisms
• Ongoing consultancy support throughout the implementation phase

Deliverables

• Gap analysis report with prioritised actions
• Adapted H&S management system documentation aligned to ISO 45001
• Implementation roadmap for NORAM operations
• Practical guidance to support ongoing compliance and maturity

Required Experience & Skills

• Proven experience implementing or aligning H&S management systems to ISO 45001
• Experience working with multinational organisations and adapting global systems to regional operations
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Pragmatic, proportionate approach suited to low-risk office environments
• Ability to work autonomously and flexibly as a contractor

Location & Travel

• Remote support: Majority of work
• On-site support: Periodic attendance at client offices in New York
• Travel and subsistence expenses to be confirmed separately (rates to clarify whether expenses are included or chargeable)

Commercials

• Contractors to provide: Daily rate for remote support, Daily all-inclusive rate for on-site support (inclusive of all costs)

This engagement may extend beyond the initial phase, subject to client approval, offering potential for longer-term involvement.
