About this Role

The Health & Safety Coordinator supports the administration, monitoring, and delivery of the company’s Health and Safety program. This role assists in documenting safety performance, coordinating training and compliance activities, and supporting site teams to maintain safe working environments.

Key Responsibilities

Program Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain and update H&S documentation, forms, and software systems
  • Collect, verify, and summarize safety statistics; prepare monthly and quarterly performance reports for management
  • Manage and maintain physical and digital safety records including daily equipment inspections, hazard assessments, safety talks, weekly site inspections, and worker orientations
  • Monitor the H&S shared inbox (if applicable), triage inquiries, and ensure timely communication and follow-up
  • Coordinate PPE orders and inventory with approved suppliers
  • Track deliverables, deadlines, and action items using internal systems

Onboarding & Training Support

  • Deliver and document onboarding and safety orientation requirements for new hires
  • Support maintenance of JHSC documentation, including meeting minutes, distribution, and follow-up on assigned items
  • Assist with organizing and tracking safety training and certifications

Site Support & Documentation

  • Conduct regular site safety inspections
  • Produce detailed inspection reports in a timely manner
  • Identify deficiencies and assign corrective actions to responsible parties
  • Follow up on corrective actions to ensure completion within required timeframes
  • Assist with subcontractor safety audits and track non-compliance issues
  • Support accident/incident investigation documentation and reporting
  • Assist with MOL/WSIB notifications and early return-to-work administration when required
  • Ensure all site personnel maintain required safety certifications by tracking expiry dates, coordinating renewals, and keeping training records up to date.

Communication & Coordination

  • Attend site and safety meetings; record and distribute minutes, and track action items to resolution
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to support ongoing safety initiatives
  • Provide administrative and field support to the Health & Safety Manager on program development, audits, and compliance activities

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma/Certificate in Health & Safety or related field
  • 2–3 years H&S experience in construction
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience with safety management software considered an asset

Physical/Sensory Effort and Work Environment

  • You manage multiple deadlines while supporting various departments.
  • Evening, weekend, and overtime work may be required.
  • You may need to travel and spend extended periods sitting or standing.
