**General Accountabilities**

  • The primary resource for ensuring the Company's safety standards and loss management programs are administered to support an incident, accident and injury free workplace;
  • Provides guidance and recommendations to employees and leaders on respective sites;
  • Promotes KMC safety culture, adhering to all provincial and federal laws, KMC policy, internal controls and practices, all while maintaining the highest level of professionalism;
  • Interprets and advises all employees on compliance to OHS regulations and company standards;
  • Reviews safe work procedures for compliance and recommend changes as required;
  • Provides a high level of visibility in the field by performing tours daily;
  • Assists with the development and implementation of EH&S programs and procedures.;
  • Provides advice on the safety procedures and practices contained in the company safety management system.;
  • Review programs and procedures to ensure effectiveness.;
  • Monitor and trend safety activities; FLRA's, Safe Work Observation, Near Miss, inspection, and safety meetings;
  • Conduct safety audits in accordance with Company requirements;
  • Assist management with incident investigation and reporting information such as workplace injuries to the Workers Compensation Board;
  • Complete documentation required for injury claims and liaise with WCB to resolve any issues;
  • Assist with the management and review of subcontractor safety programs and follow up on incidents with contractors;
  • Perform incident investigations and causal analyses ensuring communication and closure of investigation;
  • Report company safety and loss management performance to the site owners as required and communicate with the customer representative;
  • Take appropriate action for all safety related concerns raised by the Company;
  • Facilitate investigations and development of the corrective actions;
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports as required; and
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.
  • *Job Qualifications**:
  • Formal Education_
  • Diploma and/or post-secondary degree in Health & Safety or a related field.
  • Current Certifications in Safety Management (OHS, NCSO).
  • Work Experience_
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience with 1+ years in management role.
  • Mining Industry knowledge / experience.
  • Technical Skills_
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizing, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative and performance orientated.
  • Knowledge of safety software systems and programs.
  • Tactful and diplomatic.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
