About the position

As a Safety Director at M&T Enterprises, you will oversee and implement safety programs to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. This role is crucial in developing and enforcing safety policies and procedures to mitigate risks and maintain compliance with regulatory standards, particularly in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs to prevent injuries and accidents in the workplace
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
• Provide safety training to employees on topics such as hazard communication, PPE, emergency response procedures, etc.
• Collaborate with management to address safety concerns and promote a culture of safety awareness
• Stay up-to-date on industry best practices, regulations, and standards related to occupational health and safety
• Monitor daily construction activities for compliance with OSHA, MSHA, Pipeline industry, natural gas, and other company rules/policies
• Train and instruct competent persons and new employee onboarding

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional safety experience, including leadership, preferably in the construction industry
• MSHA experience is a must
• DOT experience and knowledge of rules and regulations is a must
• OSHA 500 certified or the experience to become certified
• Certified instructor for CPR/First Aid is a plus
• Familiarity with Workers Compensation, OSHA, NEC codes, EHS principles, risk management, and compliance management
• Strong knowledge of construction/excavation site safety practices and regulations
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred
• Must have a clean Driving Record
• Successful candidate must meet all conditions of Drug and Alcohol testing requirements
