TBL Construction Ltd. is a road builder located in Red Deer, Alberta. Established in 1998, the company currently employs up to 60 employees and sub-contractors during the Alberta road building season. At TBL we strive to be an industry leader is base construction, being extremely detail oriented. TBL manages and implements various types of projects each year: environmental, improvement, repair and new. We work throughout the province but try to concentrate our efforts in Central, Southern Alberta. With our fleet of over 60 pieces of equipment we can confidently tackle most jobs in the market. Our home being based out of Red Deer, Alberta helps make us competitive in all regions of the province. TBL has a strong commitment and focus on safety. We work with our employees to ensure their personal satisfaction and comfort while "on the road" with us. **Responsibilities** - Be the health and safety leader for our clients and contractors on the worksite. - Build strong working relationships with site workers/supervisors, subcontractors and clients. - Follow and be an advocate for all rules, policies and procedures as per the client’s health and safety program, company-specific HSE program, and all other applicable legislation. - Be involved with site operations and planning to advocate safety in all aspect of operations. - Assist in monitoring worksite activities for compliance to OH&S standards and operational procedures and offer solutions to reach full compliance. - Intervene in unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and take appropriate action to influence safe behaviors and to create a safe working environment. - Assist in auditing worksites for non-compliance safety issues and recommend corrective actions. - Conduct and/or participate in accident investigations and provide input on how to prevent similar occurrences in the future. - Follow up on and track corrective actions stemming from incident investigations, audits, inspections and hazard reports. - Play an active role in safety meetings. - Be adaptable to change and stay current with applicable legislation. - Perform clerical and administrative duties adherent to the job - Maintain organized system for tracking current jobs such as quantities and correspondence - Train new workers in Flagging, WHMIS 2015 and Transportation of Dangerous Goods - Assist with other roles on the as needed basis. **Is this role for you?** - You’re a true team player, with 3-5+ years of related experience in admin with a safety background and or road construction; - You hold a safety training certificate such as a Health and Safety Administrator, NCSO or working towards your National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), Occupational Health & Safety Certificate or other industry recognized training; and/or combination of education and relevant experience. - NCSO is not a requirement for this position and should be recognized that this is an Admin position with opportunity to utilize safety skills. - You understand OH&S Acts, Regulations and Codes (primarily AB - Ability to read and understand relevant documentation pertaining to the successful and safe completion of each project (legislation, and other industry specific standards/practices) - You have strong collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships across diverse groups, with the ability to work both independently and within a team framework; - Excellent communication skills: written and verbal skills, listening skills, organization abilities, proven attention to detail, and ability to develop good working relationships with inside and outside organizations - You possess a current and valid Class 5 driver’s licence; - Intermediate experience with MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is an asset; - Fluent in English - You are able to travel to various job sites and work away from home as this position is 100% field based during peak season. **Salary**: $18.00-$22.00 per hour Additional pay: - Overtime pay Schedule: - 12 hour shift - Every Weekend - Monday to Friday - Overtime Ability to commute/relocate: - Red Deer, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
