We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health and Safety Coordinator to champion workplace safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. In this vital role, you will oversee health and safety programs that foster a secure environment for all employees. Your expertise will help identify potential hazards, conduct safety training, and promote a culture of continuous safety improvement across manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilties
- Maintain a visible presence on active projects through regular visits, coaching, and mentoring.
- Knowledge of scaffolding, cranes, fall protection systems, confined spaces, ground disturbance, and other high-risk construction activities.
- Organize safety training, first aid coverage, PPE distribution, and maintain safety records.
- Conduct site inspections weekly, FLHA compliance, develop Emergency Response and health and safety plans as applicable.
- Ensure safety boards, and records are up-to-date and accessible.
- Monitor contractor compliance
- Perform incident investigations.
- Support office teams with legislative updates, program audits, and safety reporting.
- Collaborate with management to improve safe work procedures and practices.
- Willingness and flexibility to work out of town for short-term assignments.
Qualifications
- Certified Construction Safety Officer (NCSO).
- A minimum of 2 years experience in commercial construction or industrial safety preferred.
- Current Auditor Certification with the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA).
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED – Level C certification. Advanced first aid would be an asset
- Comprehensive understanding of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation, and Code.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with field and office teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
