Salary Range : The full pay range for this role is $75,700 - $126,200 annuellement. We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.
Scope of Job : Under the direction of the Senior Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability Manager, the HSES Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day activities related to the implementation of EDF power solutions' health, safety, environment and sustainability programs. His mission is to provide EDF power solutions' management, subcontractors, suppliers and employees with sound advice in order to guarantee a healthy and safe working environment, in compliance with all the company's requirements and in compliance with legal requirements. The consultant ensures that all employees, contractors and suppliers comply with the health, safety, environment and sustainability policies, procedures and practices outlined in the Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability Manual, while supporting and promoting the company's values.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities :
  • Site visits
    • Conduct site visits in operation in Ontario and Alberta to support and mentor employees and subcontractors in the application of health and safety requirements, whether legal or EDFps requirements, identify systemic trends impacting the organization
    • Work closely with Operations Managers to identify priorities and communicate findings from site visits.
    • Develop strategies on appropriate corrective actions.
    • Assume an expert role in health and safety, providing high-level professional advice to field teams.
    • Provide technical guidance on procedures and processes to ensure the safety of contractors and employees and compliance with applicable legal requirements.
    • Develop, review, analyze, report, and communicate HSES metrics and trends to the HSES Senior Manager and Operations Managers.
  • Support ongoing projects led by the SSEDD Canada team in terms of program development and implementation.
  • Other related tasks
Supervision of Others : There will be no employees to supervise.
Working Conditions : Day-to-day work takes place mainly on sites, with the option to work from home for office work if required. The planned distribution is as follows: 80% of the time is spent at the sites in Ontario and Alberta, 20% of the time is spent in the office, filling out various documents.
Qualifications
Education/Experience :
  • Graduate diploma in health and safety or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in health and safety.
  • Experience in the field of wind power plant operation is an asset.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of the legal requirements applicable in Ontario and Alberta in health and safety.
  • Knowledge of the field of wind power plant operation is an asset.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability to operational needs and a collaborative spirit.
  • Demonstrate your ability to generate buy-in.
  • Be autonomous and proactive.
  • Ability to write reports at the technical level.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all operational levels of the organization as well as with suppliers and customers, demonstrating tact and diplomacy necessary to achieve objectives.
  • Must be able to present a wide range of HSES topics to large groups.
  • Ability to research complex topics and distill information into a usable format.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Must be proficient in various Microsoft software, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint (Office Suite).
  • Must be able to participate in the continuing education necessary to perform the required tasks.
  • English an asset
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work at heights, including raising and lowering wind turbines. This involves passing the initial medical fitness for duty assessment, the ascent test and the corresponding training.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including cold, rain, wind, etc.
