Environment, Health and Safety Manager

Our client, a well-established manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to lead and continuously improve their safety program within a manufacturing environment. One poistion located in Nisku and one position in Red Deer, Alberta.

The Opportunity

The HSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety programs while ensuring full regulatory compliance. This role provides leadership across the organization, supports employee training and development, and promotes a strong, proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve health & safety programs, policies, and Safe Work Procedures
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health & safety legislation and industry standards
  • Lead workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and corrective action tracking
  • Oversee incident investigations, injury reporting, and WCB claim management
  • Maintain COR certification and conduct internal audits
  • Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings
  • Deliver safety training and support new employee orientation
  • Lead and manage the safety team, including performance management and scheduling
  • Support workplace violence, harassment, or bullying investigations in partnership with HR
  • Compile safety statistics and reports for leadership review

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of progressive HSE experience, ideally in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Health & Safety certification; COR Auditor certification considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of OHS legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Proven leadership, investigation, and coaching abilities
  • Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365, Teams, and SharePoint

Working Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing floor work
  • Exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and varying temperatures
  • PPE required (CSA-certified safety boots required; other PPE provided)
