As we expand our operations in Edmonton, we are seeking a dedicated HSE Manager to champion our safety culture and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
Position Overview
The HSE Manager will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Hamm's health, safety, and environmental programs for our Edmonton operations. This role is pivotal in fostering a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and protecting our employees, subcontractors, clients, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide health, safety, and environmental management systems in compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations.
- Lead and mentor the HSE team, providing coaching and direction to ensure high performance.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and incident investigations; implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and ongoing education initiatives.
- Analyze HSE data and trends to proactively manage risks and reduce incidents.
- Chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee and prepare reports for leadership.
- Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and external partners to ensure alignment with Hamm's safety standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety practices and promote a positive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in health, safety, and environment management, preferably in construction or infrastructure sectors.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field (degree/diploma preferred).
- CRSP designation required; First Aid and WHMIS instructor certifications are assets.
- Proven leadership experience managing safety programs in environments with subcontractors.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian OHS legislation and best practices.
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
