Human Resources and Safety Manager

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Human Resources & Safety Manager to lead our HR function and oversee all health & safety initiatives across both office and field operations.
This stand-alone role is ideal for a confident HR professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, construction-oriented environment and enjoys building strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and preparing employment agreements. Lead a smooth and professional onboarding experience for all new hires.
Employee Relations & Performance
Serve as the primary HR contact for all employees and leaders. Address employee relations matters, conflict resolution, coaching, performance improvement plans, and change management. Oversee the annual performance review process and support leaders in delivering meaningful feedback. Promote a positive, engaged, and safety-oriented workplace culture.
HR Policy, Compliance & Administration
Maintain and update company policies in alignment with Alberta employment legislation and best practices. Ensure accurate, confidential employee records and documentation. Support organizational planning, workforce development, and HR process improvements.
Health & Safety Leadership
Lead the company's health & safety program, ensuring compliance with Alberta OHS legislation. Coordinate and deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and equipment training. Conduct worksite inspections and follow up on incident reports, near misses, corrective actions, and investigations. Manage WCB claims, modified work programs, and accommodation process. Track and report safety KPI's to leadership.
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management
3-5 years' of HR experience, preferably within the construction, trades, or industrial environments.
Solid understanding of Alberta Employment Standards and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, influence, and communicate effectively at all levels.
Comfortable operating independently in a stand-alone HR capacity.
Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable vehicle; regular travel between office and job sites is required.
