What you’ll do
- Provide advice and support to New Horizon Co-op on a broad variety of health, safety and sustainability activities, including the development, implementation and maintenance of health and safety programs
- Develop strategies on safety and sustainability programs and initiatives
- Support health and safety projects, including the development and updating of resources, policies, procedures, and manuals
- Coordinate and facilitate required health and safety training for employees and contractors (e.g., WHMIS, TDG, First Aid), and maintain accurate training records
- Conduct health and safety orientations for new employees and contractors
- Review and update of health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance
- Monitor regulatory and legislative changes and support implementation of program updates as required. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation is maintained
- Conduct incident investigations, hazard identification, reporting, and corrective action tracking
- Provide guidance to supervisors/managers on the administration of WCB claims and support the creation of Return to Work (RTW) programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned

Who you are
- High School Diploma plus completion of an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
- 3-6 years of relevant experience
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Health and Safety management systems
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong observation, incident response, and problem-solving skills
- High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
