Health and Safety Manager
O.N.E. Transport Group**Job Summary**
- *Duties**
- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Lead training development initiatives to educate employees on health and safety practices, ensuring all staff are equipped with the necessary knowledge to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization, encouraging employee participation in safety programs.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent future occurrences.
- Occasional (10% - 20%) travel to sites for site audits/inspections
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and compliance audits.
- Stay current on industry trends and changes in legislation related to health and safety standards.
- Will have to work with WCB, Managers and Employees related to workplace injuries
- *Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in a health and safety management role within transportation, logistics, and warehousing industry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant health and safety standards like Alberta OHS Code.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and influence others effectively.
- Proficient in conducting risk assessments and developing effective training programs.
- Ability to to identify risks and find solutions for unique health and safety challenges as they arise.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail when evaluating processes for improvement opportunities.
- Previous experience handing incident investigations & WCB claims
- Previous completion of internal & external COR and NSC audits (preferably in the transportation industry)
- *Preferred Skills**
- Experience working in Transportation, Logistics, and Warehousing industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Safety management software tools.
- Experience with Avetta
- Should have an active First aid certification
- Forklift train-the-trainer certification
- *Travel**
10% - 20% Annually
- *Work Experience**
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar role and a strong understanding of health and safety regulations
- Certifications are not mandatory, but practical experience and a proactive approach to workplace safety are essential.
