Construction Safety Officer
Togala ConstructionTogala Construction is looking for Construction Safety Officers to support our site teams across active projects. This role is central to how we operate on site. Safety at Togala is practical, visible, and supported by leadership, and the CSO plays a key role in making that happen every day.
You’ll work directly on site alongside Superintendents, Project Managers, and trades to identify risks early, enforce safety standards, and support a culture where people take responsibility for themselves and each other. This is a hands on role for someone who is confident on active construction sites and comfortable stepping in when something isn’t right.
What you’ll do
Be present on site supporting and enforcing Togala’s Health and Safety Program Conduct regular site walks and inspections to ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC requirements Lead safety orientations for new workers and subcontractors Stop unsafe work or activities immediately when required Investigate incidents and near misses, including documentation and follow up actions Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, and site documentation Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings in a practical, site focused way Assist with Job Hazard Assessments, Safe Work Practices, and Safe Job Procedures Monitor subcontractor safety compliance and support site audits Work closely with Superintendents and Project Managers to address safety concerns proactively
What you bring
Education
Degree, diploma, or certification in Occupational Health and Safety preferred
Experience
4 to 5 years of health and safety experience in the construction industry Comfortable working full time on active construction sites
Project Experience
Experience on residential, multi family, or mid rise projects Experience working on sites with public interface is an asset
Certifications
Advanced First Aid certification CSO or NCSO certification, or currently working toward certification
Regulatory Knowledge
Strong understanding of WorkSafe BC and BC OH&S regulations Ability to apply safety requirements in real site conditions
